Test Procedure Overview
- Chamber and Spray Rack Setup
- A test chamber is attached to the roof specimen
- Calibrated spray racks deliver at least 5 gallons per square foot per hour uniformly over the surface
- Spray racks are positioned 12 inches above the roof surface
- Preload Cycles
- Positive and negative static air pressure preloads are applied to simulate live load and wind pressure conditions:
- Positive preload: greater of 75% of live load or 50% of building design positive wind pressure
- Negative preload: 50% of design wind uplift pressure
- Each preload is applied for a minimum of 10 seconds, followed by a 2-minute recovery period
- The cycle is repeated three times
- Water Penetration Testing
- After preloading, the specified static air pressure is applied for 15 minutes while water is sprayed
- The procedure verifies seal integrity and water resistance under controlled conditions
