ASTM International E331-00 Standard Test Method for Water Penetration of Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors, and Curtain Walls by Uniform Static Air Pressure Difference.

ASTM E331 is a laboratory test method that covers the determination water resistance of exterior windows, curtain walls, skylights and doors.

The test is conducted by applying water to the outdoor face and exposed edges simultaneously with a uniform static air pressure difference.

ASTM E331 chamber set up can be done from either the interior or exterior. This all depends on the specific laboratory equipment set up.

One thing that does not change is the equipment calibration.

Calibration of laboratory equipment is not an option. It is a mandatory requirement set forth by ASTM International.

For example the water spray rack has to be re-calibrated at intervals of not more than six months.

Sovell Investigative Testing and Consulting has conducted ASTM E331 testing for General Electric, Systems Control and Homeflash.

Sovell Investigative Testing and Consulting (SITC) conducts ASTM E331 in our laboratory.
